Marine Parade Laundry

The Brief

The moment you step inside this lovely Marine Parade Townhouse, you know it is something special. Lined with Kauri ply walls, and interesting archway door frames, we needed to know more about the history of this place. Designed in 1974 by the late Architect Ivan Mercep, we knew that we needed to stay true to the history and personality of the home.

The brief was to create a laundry that was functional - a lot more storage for linen and places to hideaway the bulky items such as the ironing board and vacuum. The client also embraces colour, seen throughout other spaces in the home, so we had permission to experiment with mid-century colours and textures.

The chosen concept we called ‘A fresh start’ - an idea that embraced the yellow tones of mid-century design, a nod to the original yellows in the laundry, but also had a fresh, clean, new feel - just like clean laundry.

Fremont Studio worked with YourTradie to bring this laundry to life.
